7 Myths of Modern Media Marketing

By Jason Brick

blue-question-markYes, you already know that social media (including blogging) is as important this decade as the yellow pages were last century. Yes, you’ve even put a few of your younger staff members and student volunteers in charge of “doing something” with this newest marketing must. Yes, you’ve even seen a student or two trickle in the door after seeing your Pinterest board or your Facebook event.

No, you’re (probably) not doing social media right.

Don’t Shut the Social Media Marketing Window on Your Martial Arts Business – Mike Dolpies

By Mike Dolpies

social_networksLet”s imagine for a second that your Martial Arts business was located on the streets of New York City. You get tons of people passing by your windows at all hours of the day.

For some of you this is a fortunate reality because you have worked hard to find the right location. But let”s imagine everyone had the same “Mummers Parade” volume of people passing by every day. (Philly reference!)

Would you shut your blinds? … Would you lock your door? … Would you make sure your lobby was “UN-inviting” to visitors? Of course not.

Marketing Your Martial Arts Business with Facebook Ads – Part 1 – Mike Dolpies

By Mike Dolpies

describe the imageConfused about Facebook Ads? You’re not the only one. I wrote this article to help clear up the confusion for Martial Arts business owners looking to promote their programs and increase their likes on Facebook.

Back in 2010, I began using Facebook Ads to get “Likes” on one of my Facebook Business Pages. They were called “Fan Pages” back then.

I went in determined to get results, but as a direct marketing student and practitioner, I also knew I wouldn’t keep doing it if it didn’t work. I read through numerous Facebook help sections and did my due diligence, but I was still a little arrogant and impatient. I would think … “I’ve been marketing my Martial Arts schools and other businesses since 1998. I’ve been using Internet marketing and selling online for almost five years … running a Facebook Ad will be a piece of cake.”

I was wrong!

The Google+ Business Blueprint – Part 4 – Duane Brumitt

By Member Solutions

google_hangout_iconIn Part 3 of this Google+ Business Blueprint series, I spoke briefly about Google+ Hangouts. Hangouts are group video chats that can be used for interacting face to face with your customers, employees and business partners. Here are four specific ideas for Hangouts:

Q+A sessions with customers – allow your customers to pose questions to a human face. This will enhance consumer trust in a brand as they know they aren’t receiving an automated reply.

Competitions – set up a competition in which you pose a question during a Hangout. You could drive a huge amount of traffic onto your page at once.

Employee meetings – one default business page circle is ‘team members’. By ensuring all your team members are part of this circle, you can use Hangouts for meetings.

Client meetings – many businesses already use Hangouts to connect with clients and hold face-to-face meetings without being in the same room. By setting these up through a company profile instead of a personal profile, the process becomes more professional.
